We celebrate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. On this day of national celebration, we look back on our journey and gaze toward the new path ahead, filled with enthusiasm and pride.
The Historical Evolution of the Term "National Day"
"National Day" is not a newly coined modern phrase; it can be traced back to ancient Chinese texts. In On the Five-Tiered Vassal System by Lu Ji of the Western Jin Dynasty, it states: "At national celebrations, only the ruler enjoys the benefits; when the sovereign is troubled, no one shares the harm." In ancient times, the term referred to royal celebrations such as emperors’ coronations or birthdays.
On October 1, 1949, the solemn proclamation made atop Tiananmen Rostrum endowed this phrase with a brand-new meaning. In December of the same year, the Central People’s Government officially designated October 1st as National Day. Since then, National Day has belonged not to a select few, but to all Chinese people as our shared glory.
Seventy-Seven Years of Forging Ahead, A Renewed Land

Over seventy-seven years of trials and strides, generations of people have strived in succession, forging this magnificent journey across our land. The pursuit of national rejuvenation is an arduous undertaking full of opportunities and challenges, inspiring us to forge ahead bravely.
In this golden autumn of prosperity, our nation enjoys peace and stability. Some travel to the capital to witness the flag-raising ceremony; others reunite with family at home; many still stick to their posts and fulfill their duties quietly. Behind this flourishing landscape lies the dedication and efforts of countless ordinary people.
