In the face of demanding scenarios such as long-distance inspection by drones, field mapping, and unmanned monitoring, traditional cameras are often limited by complex power supply, bulky size or compromised image quality.
The Sony ILX-LR1 full-frame expandable system camera has come into being. It is centered around a full-frame sensor with approximately 61 million effective pixels, combined with direct current drive and lightweight design, specifically designed for system integration. This device not only addresses the pain points of traditional industrial cameras, but also opens up new possibilities for high-precision and high-efficiency applications in drone inspection.
Ⅰ. 61 mega pixels full-frame: High-precision imaging
The full-frame Exmor R™ CMOS back-illuminated sensor equipped in ILX-LR1 forms the foundation for its success in industrial inspection. Combined with Sony’s advanced BIONZ XR™ image processor, it can produce top-notch image quality with high resolution, low noise, and wide dynamic range, ensuring the capture of key details even in complex lighting conditions.
1. One image contains more information than multiple images
With a data volume of 61 million pixels, the ILX-LR1 achieves an efficient workflow of “one image equals multiple images”. In drone mapping or land surveying, a single high-resolution image can cover the area that traditional equipment needs to take multiple shots to complete, significantly reducing the number of flights and the amount of post-processing calculations, and greatly improving the operational efficiency.
2. High-precision capture
In power inspection, minor wear on the wires; in building inspection, hairline cracks in the walls – the ILX-LR1 can clearly display these minute defects with extremely high resolution. At the same time, the camera supports triggering through analog signals in single-shot mode, enabling remote high-speed continuous shooting at approximately 3 frames per second. Even when the drone is unstable in hovering, it can capture clear and sharp ground images.
II. DC Power Supply: Designed for 24/7 Operation
Industrial environments often lack standard mains power support, and have extremely high requirements for the continuous operation capability of equipment. The ILX-LR1 discards the traditional commercial battery compartment design and adopts a pure DC power supply architecture, which is the fundamental difference between it and consumer-grade cameras.
Seamless integration: No additional inverter or voltage stabilizing module is required. It can directly connect to drone batteries, industrial power supplies or solar power supply systems, simplifying the circuit design for system integration.
Long-lasting battery life: Optimized power consumption management enables it to be compatible with various DC power sources, supporting extended continuous monitoring or inspection tasks, and eliminating the risk of data loss due to power interruption.
Extreme Adaptability: Whether it is a moving unmanned aerial vehicle or a stationary industrial cabinet, the DC power supply solution has significantly expanded the application scope of the equipment.
III. Ultra-compact Body: Enhancing System Integration Freedom
For drones and mobile robots, every gram of weight and every cubic centimeter of space is extremely precious. The ILX-LR1 was designed with the concept of “born for integration” in mind from the very beginning.
Miniaturized design: The body measures approximately 100×74×42.5mm and weighs about 243g (excluding accessories). The compact size can be easily inserted into narrow spaces or mounted beneath small drones, minimizing the load pressure to the greatest extent.
E-Cardio E-Card Interface Ecology: Compatible with the extensive lens lineup of Sony E-Card Interface (over 70 models). Users can flexibly select wide-angle (for wide-area scanning) or telephoto (for long-distance observation) lenses according to their task requirements, achieving “one device for multiple purposes”, thereby reducing the equipment cost for switching between multiple scenarios.
IV. Multi-industry Empowerment: Intelligent Transformation from Inspection to Modeling
With these core advantages, Sony ILX-LR1 has achieved large-scale application in multiple key industries, becoming the visual center driving digital transformation.
Application scenarios Core value Typical use cases
High quality + Long battery life Defect identification of power towers, Pipeline leakage inspection, Bridge cable flaw detection
Single high-resolution image Topographic mapping, BIM building information model data collection, Urban planning
All-weather stability Production line equipment status monitoring, Pipeline valve leakage detection
Green energy Outdoor adaptability Photovoltaic panel hot spot detection (in combination with infrared), Wind turbine blade inspection
Whether on the power lines at a height of hundreds of meters or in the unmanned communication base stations, Sony ILX-LR1 precisely resolves the power supply, space and precision challenges in industrial image integration with its full-frame image quality, DC stability and compact design, providing a solid visual guarantee for the intelligent upgrade of various industries.
