Sony’s new product launch showcases technology innovation: The dToF Lidar sensor AS-DT1 makes a stunning debut.

In the spring of 2026, Xuanzhan Technology, as the official authorized dealer of Sony (China), received a major piece of good news from Sony – the dToF Lidar sensor AS-DT1 was officially launched and began to be sold to the market in full.
The Sony AS-DT1 sensor ingeniously combines miniaturization design, high-precision measurement and high reliability into one, like a powerful force, bringing a brand-new perception experience to various fields such as unmanned aircraft, robots, and industrial inspection.

Ⅰ. Three key technological highlights, reshaping industry perception standards
The AS-DT1 integrates Sony’s self-developed technologies in optics and sensing. Its design closely aligns with practical application requirements, achieving significant breakthroughs in terms of size, precision, and environmental adaptability.

1. Compact and sturdy design, easily integrating into various devices
In scenarios that emphasize integration and weight, the compact design of AS-DT1 demonstrates significant advantages. Its dimensions are controlled at 29×29×31 millimeters (excluding protrusions), with a total weight of approximately 50 grams. Thanks to Sony’s technological accumulation in the miniaturization of industrial cameras and optical lenses, it can be easily deployed on mobile robots with limited space or unmanned aerial vehicle platforms that are sensitive to payload.
At the same time, the sensor is equipped with an aluminum alloy casing, which ensures lightweight while enhancing overall strength. It can withstand the tests of industrial sites and outdoor environments, providing stable and reliable perception support for various mobile devices.

2. High-precision ranging capability, addressing complex detection challenges
The AS-DT1 is equipped with a dToF (direct time-of-flight) ranging module developed independently by Sony. It integrates a highly sensitive SPAD sensor internally and achieves precise three-dimensional ranging by calculating the round-trip time of the laser. Within a range of 10 meters, its ranging error is no more than ±5 centimeters, with a resolution of up to 0.25 millimeters, enabling clear differentiation of the minute positional differences of close-range objects.
Moreover, this sensor overcomes the limitations of traditional solutions in detecting low-reflectivity objects and suspended targets. Even in warehouses with piled goods or areas with dense human traffic, it can stably output reliable data, providing a strong basis for equipment navigation and obstacle avoidance.

3. Fully environment-compatible, stable operation even in strong light conditions
To adapt to various working environments, AS-DT1 can achieve the longest measurement range of up to 40 meters indoors, and in outdoor conditions with a light intensity of 100,000 lux on a sunny day, it can still achieve an effective detection range of 20 meters. This effectively solves the common industry problem of reduced measurement performance under strong light interference.
The sensor supports a maximum output frame rate of 30 fps, and even in the maximum measurement range mode, it can maintain a frame rate of 15 fps. It can generate smooth point cloud information in real time, meeting the dynamic perception requirements of scenarios such as high-speed obstacle avoidance or long-distance inspection for robots.

II. Empowering Intelligent Upgrades in Multiple Industries
With its lightweight body and powerful performance, AS-DT1 can be widely applied in various fields such as industrial automation, service robots, and outdoor inspection, helping different industries improve operational efficiency and intelligence levels.
1. Drone Application: Precise Sensing, Expanded Operating Capacity
For drone systems, the load weight directly affects flight time and task range. The 50-gram weight of AS-DT1 hardly affects flight performance. Its high-precision ranging and long-distance detection functions can provide effective obstacle perception, autonomous navigation, and terrain mapping data for drones, suitable for detection and mapping tasks in difficult-to-access inspection scenarios such as bridges, dams, and power lines.
2. Robot Integration: Sensitive Obstacle Avoidance, Enhanced Operational Smoothness
In robot scenarios such as restaurant delivery, warehouse logistics, and industrial inspection, AS-DT1 can play an important role. Its centimeter-level positioning accuracy and rapid response characteristics help robots identify obstacles, plan paths, and effectively avoid collisions, improving operational continuity and overall efficiency.
3. Industrial and Professional Inspection: Remote Sensing, Ensuring Operational Safety
In the industrial field, this sensor can be used for long-distance detection and monitoring of infrastructure, reducing the need for close-range operation by personnel, and enhancing operational safety while improving detection efficiency.

III. Open Ordering, Facilitating Innovation in Smart Devices
Currently, Sony’s dToF lidar sensor AS-DT1 has been officially launched. Robot manufacturers, drone enterprises, and industrial equipment vendors can obtain this product from Xuanzhan Technology to break through the limitations of existing perception systems and create more market-competitive smart devices.
