The difference between medical SDI monitor and ordinary monitor (2) : function and certification

Medical monitor is a high-end display device with high clarity, high brightness and high stability in the display field.

With the increasing maturity and popularity of PACS technology, as well as the rapid development of various digital imaging devices, medical SDI monitor is a terminal image presenter for doctors to realize the observation and diagnosis of patients, and what is the difference between ordinary display devices used to display black and white, color images or text?

Taking medical SDI monitor as an example, it is compared from three aspects: technical parameters, function and security certification.

This article will compare the differences between medical SDI monitors and ordinary monitors in terms of functionality and safety certification.

1. Function

1, DICOM PART14 standard:

dicom curve is one of the most important parameters in the characteristics of the display, it directly reflects the performance of the display due to the characteristics of electronic components, the input and output of the display, is not an ideal linear relationship. At both ends of the input and output characteristic curve, the input changes caused by the output changes are not obvious, assuming that the input and output range are 0-99, in the beginning stage, the input is 3, perhaps its output is only 1, if this situation is directly applied to medical imaging, it will be found that the display can not correctly identify some subtle soft tissue density changes (Figure 2). In order to specify a specification for the performance of medical monitors, the World Medical Organization has developed the dicom standard, which is to widen the difference between each gray scale, that is, when the input is 3, the output is also 3.

Medical monitor: has the ability to adjust the DICOM standard curve, so that it is consistent with the DICOM standard, so as to ensure the display quality of the image.

Common monitor: None

2, SBC function: constant brightness adjustment function

The brightness of the display will decay with the use of time (see Figure 3), in order to meet the clinical standards of film reading, the stability, consistency and integrity of each image (it means that the brightness, gray scale and contrast of the same image displayed on the workstation at different locations in the hospital are exactly the same, so that doctors in different locations see the same image; The printed image is the same as the image displayed on the monitor), it is necessary to carry out a monitoring calibration adjustment control of the brightness at any time, so that it is stable between 400 and 500 cd/m2 standards, and not less than 30,000 hours of brightness value maintenance.

Medical monitor: There is an optical sensor interface on the back, which can be connected to the optical sensor for correction to ensure the consistency and integrity of the system display.

Ordinary display: no brightness monitoring control kinetic energy, brightness attenuation is fast enough.

3. Display mode:

Diagnostic workstations, for example, require two or more monitors

Medical monitor: horizontal/vertical conversion, 10bit- 12bit grayscale output; Combined with the function of the graphics card, it can complete the functions of independent display, extended display, copy display, color-black and white conversion, main and secondary display interchange, one card and two displays.

Normal display: Normal mode

Second, security certification

1. Medical certification

Medical monitor: FDA510(k), ISO13485

Common monitor: None

2. Security certification

Medical monitor: CE, UL, CCC

Common display: CCC and other basic standards

In addition, due to the requirements of teaching and the habits of doctors, domestic and foreign doctors are used to using a pen to point at the film or display screen to express the view of the specific details of the image, the LCD screen material is easily damaged materials, in order to adapt to the medical environment, display manufacturers will be responsible in the production of the LCD screen protection board.

Medical SDI monitor VRS-M2201SD-W, 21.5-inch, LED full HD 1920X1080, brightness 300cd/㎡, aspect ratio 16:9, contrast ratio 1500:1, suitable for hospital operating rooms, surgical centers, clinics, doctors’ offices and similar medical environments.
