At the 2025 Low Altitude Economy and Unmanned Systems Expo and the 10th Shenzhen International Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Exhibition, Sony dToF lidar AS-DT1 made its first public appearance. Senior leaders of Sony Group visited the booth of Xuanzhan Technology to guide the display work and highly praised the product technology and market application.
I. High-level Platform: A deep endorsement of strategic cooperation
On May 23, 2025, at the Shenzhen International Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Exhibition, the senior team of Sony Group visited the booth of Xuanzhan Technology and provided full guidance on the display of the world’s first AS-DT1 lidar sensor.
Technical recognition: Sony senior management experienced the real-time ranging demonstration of AS-DT1 on site and highly praised its accuracy performance (±5cm error) in complex environments. They also emphasized that Xuanzhan Technology’s “innovative achievements that have been implemented in low-altitude economic scenarios are of benchmark significance”.
Cooperation Upgrade: Both parties announced the deepening of strategic synergy, combining Sony sensing technology with Xuanzhan’s video system integration capabilities to jointly empower the next-generation intelligent unmanned aerial vehicle solutions.
Ii. Sony AS-DT1’s Debut: Redefining the “Lightness” and “Precision” of LiDAR
Three major technological breakthroughs set the stage abysmal
The world’s smallest volume
It measures only 29×29×31mm (excluding protrusions) and weighs 50 grams – equivalent to the weight of an egg, yet it carries centimeter-level precision perception capabilities.
The aluminum alloy shell combines lightweight and durability, making it suitable for harsh environments such as vibration and temperature changes in unmanned aerial vehicles.
2. Dual-core black technology of dToF+SPAD
Direct time-of-flight (dToF) technology combined with single photon Avalanche diode (SPAD) sensors achieves photon-level signal capture:
The maximum indoor distance is 40 meters and the precise distance measurement is 20 meters under strong outdoor light (100,000 lux).
Overcome traditional problems such as low-reflectivity objects (such as glass) and suspended obstacles.
3. Adaptability to complex scenarios
Dynamic environments such as the interference of people flow in retail stores, the gaps between warehouse shelves, and the rusting of steel cables on Bridges can all stably output three-dimensional point cloud data.
The measured error at a distance of 10 meters is less than ±5cm, providing millimeter-level decision-making basis for obstacle avoidance of unmanned aerial vehicles.
Iii. Application Scenarios
Drones and Robots: Provide high-precision depth perception capabilities for drones and robots to enhance their navigation and obstacle avoidance performance in complex environments.
Infrastructure inspection: It is applicable to the inspection of infrastructure such as Bridges, expressways, and DAMS, and can provide reliable distance measurement data under long-distance and complex lighting conditions.
Retail and warehousing: Help robots more accurately perceive the surrounding environment in dynamic Settings such as retail stores and warehouses, improving work efficiency and safety

Future Outlook
The AS-DT1 is expected to be officially launched in the spring of 2026. The launch of this sensor not only continues SONY’s profound accumulation in sensor technology, but also redefines the industry standard of lidar with its outstanding performance, injecting new possibilities into scenarios such as autonomous driving, robot navigation, and 3D modeling. Xuanzhan Technology will join hands with SONY to continuously promote technological innovation and the implementation of its ecosystem, helping customers seize the boundless opportunities of the intelligent era.
