Sony AS-DT1 made its debut at the CPSE2025, assisting mobile security drones in achieving precise obstacle avoidance

During the Shenzhen International Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Exhibition in May 2025, Xuanzhan Technology, the official authorized distributor of SONY (China) and the China launch center for the FCB series cameras, made its first public appearance with the SONY dToF sensor AS-DT1. Senior leaders of SONY Group visited the Xuanzhan Technology booth in person to provide on-site guidance and had in-depth exchanges with the team on the details of the technical demonstration. With its breakthrough dToF 3D perception capability, SONY AS-DT1 has drawn high attention from the industry on site.

From October 28th to 31st, 2025, SONY AS-DT1 once again participated in the CPSE, presenting itself AS the world’s smallest and lightest lidar depth sensor, bringing breakthrough precise obstacle avoidance capabilities to mobile security drones.

 

I. Tiny Body, Huge Breakthrough: Redefining the perception Standards of Security Drones
The SONY AS-DT1 measures only 29mm × 29mm × 31mm and weighs just 50 grams. This ultimate miniaturized design makes it an ideal choice for mobile security drones where space and weight are limited. Within its lightweight body lies a powerful environmental perception capability.

This sensor adopts dToF (Direct Time-of-Flight) technology and combines a single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) sensor, capable of achieving high-precision measurements with an error of less than ±5 centimeters within a distance of 10 meters. This means that security drones can accurately and in real time perceive surrounding obstacles in complex environments, significantly enhancing flight safety and stability.

The SONY AS-DT1 is equally impressive in terms of performance. In indoor environments, its ranging distance can reach up to 40 meters, and even under strong outdoor light (100,000 lux), it can achieve an accurate ranging of 20 meters. This feature enables security drones to maintain reliable environmental perception capabilities whether in dim indoor scenes or outdoor environments exposed to direct sunlight.

It is worth mentioning that the SONY AS-DT1 can effectively detect low-contrast and low-reflectivity objects, such AS glass doors, transparent partitions and other obstacles that are difficult for traditional sensors to identify. This breakthrough capability has greatly expanded the application scope of drones in complex security scenarios.

The sensor’s robust aluminum alloy housing design not only ensures lightweight characteristics but also offers excellent durability, enabling it to adapt to various complex security operation environments.
